Finalists fight for “Face Of” Title

Posted on 11-Sep-2012

The battle to be crowned “The Ultimate Doll” 2012 is most definitely on after contestants attend casting call.

The competition to find the “Face Of” local business’s Nancy Darcy hairdressing and Kiwi Boutique is getting exciting as last month 11 finalists were selected from 50 applicants. The Ultimate Doll casting day took place at Middleborough’s “The Walkabout”, and saw 27 nervous girls attend the day not knowing what to expect.

Model liaison Louise Murray said, “We had not given too much away prior to the casting so I think the contestants were nervous but once they arrived they soon settled. It was so lovely to see a bunch of women come together without any unfriendliness. It is very refreshing to think we have created something within this normally scrutinising industry that is non– stereotypical.”

Beccy, MD of Nancy Darcy Hairdressing continued, “We reminded the girls that we had thrown typical model criteria out of the window, looking for our “ultimate doll”. We want to find someone who has the ability to show her inner beauty on the outside.”

On the day the girls were put through their paces being scored across 3 tasks; individual interviews, group mentoring from the industry’s top catwalk chorographer Carmel Hutchinson; and finally the girls put on their own catwalk routine to the song they were previously given. Sally Morgan Kiwi Boutique MD said, “All of the routines were amazing I was really impressed at what they had done with the time they had.”

So after a successful casting day, the judges got together to deliberate their scores and thoughts on the contestants, and managed to come to a difficult decision of 11 finalists! Judge and Next Top Model finalist Tallie Crawford explained, “We came to a mutual decision with the girls; there was something about each one of them that stood out.”

The girls are now waiting anxiously for the huge contest finale and charity event to be held at the Town Hall in Middlesbrough on the 20th October, where proceeds will go towards the Young Carers project in Redcar and the winner will be crowned “The Ultimate Doll 2012” winning the prize of becoming the face of Nancy Darcy Hairdressing and Kiwi Boutique, a Bespoke on location Portfolio created by Keith Moss photography team, and FREE ND Hairdressing and Kiwi Styling.

Next on the agenda is catwalk mentoring, a photography workshop with Keith Moss and complete styling make-overs!
